Talking of comfort objects - any other children here who don't have any? And if so, why do you think that is?

My dd's are six and three. While they may favour one toy over the other sometimes, they both don't have one particular comfort object. In a way I'm relieved about that, because they can't lose it then.

Ds is now one, and doesn't have one either.

My only theory about it is that it might be to do with co-sleeping? But I could be wrong.

That's an interesting theory. I coslept with mine and they never had a favorite toy either.

Not sure. I also co-slept most of the time, and neither of them had comfort objects. Not for more than a night at a time - maybe just fickle?

I didn't cosleep with either of mine. DD2 has a comfort blankettywossname. DD1 is wildly promiscuous in her choice of bedtime companions.

co-slept with both mine & they don't have a favourite comforter/toy.

Although with dd she co-slept until she was about 3.

Ds is almost 3 now & although he starts off in his own bed every night, he ends up in ours by about 2am, I still class this as co-sleeping

They have never had anything though, dummy/blanket/cuddly toy etc.. I just always assumed they were wierd

None of my three ever had a 'comfort' object. Neither does GS and I have never done co-sleeping. SO there goes that theory ... sorry

Dd is almost 19 months and never had anything not even the dummy. She wasn't interested. Dh refused to let me buy her a comforter. But doubt she would have been bothered anyway. She does suck her thumb.

Semi-coslept with DS on-and-off and he doesn't have one... but then I can only think of one of his friends (out of half a dozen or more) who does, and I doubt they all co-slept.

My ds has formed attachments to his soft toy friends in his bed and that only started after I stopped bf'ing him after dd was born (he moved out to his own bed at 18m - dd born when he wa 19m). dd is still bf and in with me and dh at 14m and has no comforter - but this may change.

I always assumed that ds used the soft toys and bedtime routine as a comfort because dd appeared and I stopped bf'ing him. Of course assumptions can be wrong....

Ds1 doesn't, and never has had, a comfort object. We didn't co-sleep, he has loads of things he could become attached to, but just never has.

DD never had anything,
DS does have a special bunny who must go to sleep with him, but bunny does not leave the house.

Mine both have a comfort object. They are called transitional objects, I'm not sure, I'm vaguely translating feom Italian.

co-slept with both - dd1 really really attached to comfort object - dd2 has none - except my boob! I wish she would have a comfort object, it would give my nipples a break!

DD1 has 'Dog', a grey and white cuddly toy from M&S some friends of my ILs got her when she was born. 4 years ago.

She simply cannot sleep without him, so we're very careful that he never leaves the house because M&S don't make them anymore.

He's pretty manky.

I put him in a pillow case every now and then and machine wash him in the delicate cycle with this lavender laundry wash from Lakeland.

She always finds out because he's damp and she starts to 'greet' (cry).

DD2 is carrying on the tradition with 'Leopard' - a Ty cuddly a neighbour gave her when she was born.

Never co-slept. Ds doesn't have any blankies or comfort objects. He does have teddies on his bed, but that's just somewhere to put them - he's not particularly bothered about them. Has about 30 of those bean bag ones atm though (Ty?) as his old nanny gave him a bag full. Sigh...

DS (12 months) doesn't have a particular object but there must be something in the cot for him to chew on (weird, teething originated problem!). We've never co-slept. I'm grateful he doesn't yet have a fixation on one object.

Neither of my dc have ever been remotely interested in a comfort object.

Co-slept with ds and even tried really hard to get him to attach to a comfort toy to sleep in his own bed.

dd slept fine on own until fairly recently (age 3) but she has been ill and in hospital quite a bit but still no comforter.

I haven't co-slept with either of mine and neither have they had any favourite comfort objects.
Thye both have toys that they enjoy playing with but chop and change like the weather!

I co-slept and neither of mine have a comfort object.
They do both have a blanket, but that never leaves the bed - they sleep without it OK, but I do take it with me when staying away at night as a familiar object so that they are OK sleeping in strange beds. Sp semi-attached

Ds is 3.8yrs and has never been particularly into comfort items at all. I co slept on and off with all of mine for first couple of months.
Now DD1 is 18mths and is very into comfort things like her bottle at bed time, dummy for sleep and her gromit teddy. However she was sick quite a bit first year of life so I think that might be some if it for her.

DD2 is only 6mths
