What sorted out your baby's cradle cap?

With DD1, I just left it - but baby DS"s is quite unsightly as he doesn't have much hair.

Did you use oil? Medicated shampoo? Or is it really best just left?

I just left it and he grew out of it. I used a baby brush to go over it a few times but really I just left it as it was.

I used olive oil and then brushed through gently with a nit comb.

Massaging with coconut oil then shampooing under the tap a few times a week.

I picked it off, scale by scale, as he slept in my arms. Only if the scales were lifting and ready to go. Once they’re gone they don’t come back.

I left it with dc1 and 2 and it went quickly, but dc3 still had it at 5 years old though he has really, really thick hair so nobody outside the family really noticed. I then started trying different shampoos. The baby ones had no effect, maybe because his hair was so thick. What worked in the end was Head and Shoulders dandruff shampoo every single day for about 3 weeks it's never come back although he uses an ordinary mild shampoo now. You can't use head and shoulders on a baby obviously.

It will probably go away on its own but doesn't always.

Baby oil worked for my dd, better than medicated shampoo. Rubbed some in in the evening, left overnight, brushed and washed out in the morning. (I think! Only a few times a week though)

I used to massage tea tree oil conditioner into the scalp and then found it would often peel off when I used a little brush it just needed softening a bit xx

Olive oil.

It was really effective and then rubbed it in patches as it cane back. Can’t beleive I largely ignored it in my older 3 dcs when it was so easy to remedy!

Unrefined Coconut oil works well when they have no hair, when they do, Dentinox shampoo works brilliantly too.

Vaseline overnight. What a mess, but it lifted it off. Had to repeat on a number of occasions though.

Slather it in Oilatum cream overnight and then brush out in the morning

Detinox shampoo worked and I tried to lift it with a comb but that scared me and I wouldn’t do that again. Just regularly washing with the shampoo worked

Olive oil - massage on at night, leave till the morning, baby shampoo in the morning (or, if you forget, nursery saying "ooh have you just had a hair wash" when you go in with their hair rank and greasy).

Aveeno baby wash and moisturiser, was recommended by pharmacist rather than dentinox

In fact, the midwife at the hospital told me to use olive oil all over him after he was bathed or had a nappy change.

It worked like a charm and he still has the most beautiful skin I’ve ever touched.

I say this to everyone, my DS had it so bad until he was 3 months old, I tried everything, and then I tried a tiny bit of Nizoral anti dandruff shampoo. But pricy, around £6 for a tiny bottle, but god I wish I'd tried it sooner. Absolutely amazing stuff. He's 4.5 now and occasionally gets a flare up but it literally takes one hairwash with this stuff to sort it out again. You need to leave it on the scalp for a few minutes.

A mix of picking it off, olive oil and eventually nizoral shampoo and a nit comb when he was 6 and still had it.
He got nits in reception and it was a nightmare to clear because of the cradle cap so I had to resort to drastic measures!

I used oil and a pourty brush i found on amazon. Cannot recommend the brush highly enough cleared cradle cap within 2 uses and such a dramatic change after 1st use!

Coconut oil and a toothbrush! Used to rub the oil in as she fell asleep on me for a nap, and then gently rub it off with the toothbrush once she was asleep. Firm bristles meant I could lift it at the edges and get it off in bigger bits...also dentinox shampoo and pourty brush to keep on top of it once the worst was away
