Anyone have a baby that WASN'T colicky?

What's it like?

I envisage a lovely calm household with a chilled out baby who has lovely sleeps, feeds like a dream, minimal stress and better sleep for Mum. Ah it must be wonderful looks wistfully into the distance

Not colicky but would scream blue murder if he ever left a pair of arms and didn’t have any sort of proper naps until 6 months old. Oh and he’s 2.5 and I’m still waiting for him to fall asleep Grin

DC2 was a dream baby, very content and easy in every way.

DC1 on the other hand had reflux and colic. He would cry for hours on end, it was really tough going!

He did sleep through from 4 weeks though

I thought my DS2 had colic. He would get fussy every evening about the same time.

Turned out he was ready for bed. Put him down for a sleep and he was right as rain Blush

Sorry you're having a tough time OP. Colic and reflux are awful.

Neither of mine were colicky but neither self settled, woke million times a night, DS2 needs fed to sleep and wakes about 5 times before we go to bed

No colic, but total Velcro baby- very high energy, and at 11months is still up 3-10 times overnight! Grin

No colic and slept really well at night but during the day was pretty much permanently attached to my boob and had to be rocked to sleep for a nap every day for about 7 months!

DD1 was a nightmare for colic and it made us all miserable until she grew out of it. She also hated going to sleep or not being in the same room as a person (she'd scream her lungs out).

DD2 was a model baby. No colic, was sleeping 6 hours straight from 2 weeks old and up to 8 hours by 8 weeks and perfectly happy in her own company. I swear if she'd been my first I'd have had another baby ASAP. There's a reason for our 5 year age gap!

2 colicky 4 not. If it's not colic it's something else though...

A mixed bag then! This does make make me feel better though.

DS had reflux. 4 months of hell until he was prescribed ranitidine. Unfortunately sleep crutches were well and truly set by this time!

DD is 5wks now. She's at least colicky. I'm on reflux alert though and it's not looking promising 😪 not as bad as DS was though (yet).

Curious to know how much easier life is on the other side!

Sorry, mine never got colic and slept pretty much the whole way through from about 6 weeks. Dream baby in every way. I'm scared to have another in case karma sends me a nightmare. You have my sympathies!

No reflux for my baby. He was an absolute dream. Didn't even cry till he was 8 weeks old because he was dead due to the amount of fluid he retrained after he was born. Fast forward 7 years and I'm pulling my hair out while he makes up for it all!! I definitely counted all my eggs before hey hatched GrinConfused

No colic here but would literally sit on the boob for hours upon hours and barely napped. “All new born babies do is sleep”...LIES!

Dd2 fed and slept for 6 months - and mainly it was sleeping. I have no photos of her awake for months! She also wouldn't sleep if held (disliked being held). We coslept for 6 months with her waking to breastfeed in the night and then put her in a cot in her own room and she slept through the night straight off.

If you are starting to hate me, dd1 was the nightmare child who never slept and had to be held 24/7!

Dd1 was a dream baby. Never cried unless hungry or tired. Ds1 not so much.

Mine was never colicky, slept through from birth and was never really sick or had explosive nappies, she is however a velcro baby and hates anyone except me and DH and screams if anyone else so much as looks at her.

DD1 was an easy baby, but liked to be held. I just watched a lot of boxsets.

DD2 was an easy baby, but needed to be kept upright for about an hour after a feed or would throw the lot up. I watched quite a lot of Netflix. Otherwise she was fine being put down.

Neither was colicky.

DD never suffered with colic or reflux. I can only remember two occasions where she cried and I couldn’t instantly settle her by breastfeeding. She was (and still is) a really chilled, happy baby. Unfortunately she wanted to feed constantly and would only sleep on me...

Oh good lord dd had colic and reflux. It was horrendous. I feel your pain Op.

DD didn't have colic but evenings were either cluster feeding or pacing the flat to try and stop her crying. In the day she fed at least every hour and flat out refused a bottle so I didn't get further than the corner shop on my own until she was 6 months. For me the toddler years are far easier, although she still eats loads!

I was lucky that neither of mine were colicky or had reflux. But:
DD was just a crier and cried all day for almost a year. She did settle quickly in the evenings though and sleep well.
DS was much happier in himself but was an appalling sleeper and woke up every 40 minutes for aaaages.
Hang on in there op it'll pass

Minimal crying when tiny, slept through at 6 weeks.
Now nearly ten months and honestly I want to jump out of the window some days. I can tell he's going to be a VERY challenging toddler...

Oh gosh every evening from ten weeks until about twenty weeks from six in the evening until about ten at night was awful - non stop crying, refusal to be put down, refusing to sleep ... as a result we didn't really end up getting into a bedtime routine until much later and are still trying to undo some of the bad sleep habits at ten months !
