DS is almost 4, he’ll start school in September. He had been dry for a while now and rarely has an accident, but we have various issues, one being he never goes unless prompted (he doesn’t like to stop what he’s doing).
The second is that the whole experience generally involves a huge amount of fussing. At home he gets distracted and wanders off en route to the loo so he has to be accompanied every time, or wants to bring toys with him....once on the loo he’s fiddling with the toilet roll or just starts counting or chattering. When he’s finished he just jumps off and wanders off, he has to be reminded to pull his trousers up, tries to avoid washing his hands.....it’s a nightmare 🙈 he had a UTI a few months ago so having to remind him to go is essential - I worry if he holds his wee he’ll get another one.
How can I keep him on task? I’m dreading him starting school where he’ll be sorting himself out. He can’t wipe himself either. He’s otherwise bright and healthy, no SEN, just seems to see using be toilet as a chore.
Anyone have advice?
