Tried baby on food yesterday, he keeps pooping today!

I've just changed his 5th nappy.

That's the 5th poop he has done in 1.5 hours.

It's constant. At about 6.30 last night, we tried to give him a little pouch of peas, carrot and cauliflower. He seemed to really like it, but obviously didn't have much.

Is this amount of poop normal after you start weaning?

Would seem fine if it was over the course of the whole day but he's been awake less than 2 hours!

The consistency is like his usual, breastfed poos. He seems really miserable too.

Severe milk allergy (think bloody nappies), so I'm extremely careful with what I offer him.

How old is he?
Is this the first solid food you have given him?

BurberryIsSo2000 · 21/05/2018 11:45

He was 6 months on Friday

It is the first proper thing we've given him, although I've given him the odd suck of orange or even a chip before and he was absolutely fine

That sounds like a lot of high fibre food for the first time food.

Are you sure it's not a bug or maybe teething? Solids definitely changed my son's nappies but that seem excessive for it to be the food if he's not eateb much of it.

If I were you I'd double check the ingredients in the pouch. If he's allergic to milk there's possibly something like whey powder in it used as a thickener.

Have checked ingredients and all seems okay.

He doesn't appear to be teething, no drooling or red checks at the moment, etc. Or putting things in his mouth.

If it is a bug, it's a very big coincidence

I think it might be a bit too high roughage for his first food.
Mine started on just one teaspoon of baby rice. Then I gradually added tiny amounts of squished vegetable or banana to the rice. I increased the amounts by a teaspoonful at a time.

Justback I think that's a good idea for starting out with set items.

I was starting baby lead weaning before and I may continue, it all seemed very relaxed and easy.

But DH wants to do set stuff for him in the evenings Envy

I suppose we could do a mixture of the two but baby lead seemed easier for DS and much more gentle
