Blinking a lot!

Sounds a bit strange but my daughter is blinking a lot at the moment, it’s been happening for nearly two weeks, at first I thought she had just learnt she could do it but now I’m not so sure. She will be three in June. Would it be an optician I needed to take her to or a gp? Or perhaps it is just extra pollen affecting her. Anyone had something similar? Thank you.

My DS did this for a while when he was 5 and the gp referred us urgently to an eye specialist. Turned out just to be a transient tic.
Since then we have noticed other tics that come and go - stretching of the mouth like a fake yawn, arm waving etc. but the blinking was the first really obvious one and it started when he was having a tough time at school.

Probably worth seeing an optician to be on the safe side though.

Thank you for replying, I will make an appointment for her for next week, if she stops by then I can cancel. The pharmacist told me to give her piriton for it but she isn’t sneezing or her eyes aren’t running etc so don’t really want to without getting a proper opinion. Thank you again for replying.

Hi we had this with DS when he was 3, particularly when he was watching TV. We took him to Specsavers and they said he seemed fine, it was likely to be 'exploratory' at that age. It also came and went amd we felt it might've been when he was coming down with something or a bit run down so just dry eyes.

Flash forward 18months and his class had a nurse visit last month and we've been referred for a hospital appt as his vision needed 'further testing'. We took him back to Specsavers and he's now wearing glasses! Not a high prescription, but glasses nonetheless. His hospital appt is on the 30th so hoping there's nothing Specsavers have missed!
