First time you left your baby?

So I’m in a situation where I may have to go away for work for a not insubstantial period.

My baby is almost 7 months old, I’ve left her for one over night which we all coped with fine, but this will be longer!

My job is funny and I’m not “going back to work” full time, but will be doing these trips throughout the year, and then getting to be home (not working) full time when I’m not away so there is a pay off.

Can you tell I’m worried?? How old was your LO when you first left them, how was it, and have you any tips??

I left my first overnight for two nights at 9 months. But when she was 16 months I had two long trips in one month. The first I was away for 6 days. Then I was home for a week and then I was away again for 9 days. I didn’t do that often and she wasn’t bf at that point. We co slept but she was an age when my dh was perfectly fine to sleep with her. It was absolutely fine. It was such a good excuse for them to have time together to bond and my dh said he actually really enjoyed it because he got to do things with her that I’d always just taken control of and done myself in the past.

My tip though would be to have a trial run or two where you go away for a night and your partner can work out the kinks. And then just go. He’ll figure it out just fine.

Thank you! We’ve had one trial run night but not sure they’ll be time for another (it’s all a bit last minute). He’s very hands on already but not as much as I am.

I’m worried she’ll miss me... I’m hoping she won’t!!
