Night time fussy noisey sleeper!

Hi all,

My four month old has weaned himself off of all his nighttime feeds over the past month. He just stopped waking up for them, one by one, which is fab, right? Cause he's "sleeping through?!"

Well, not really!

He is so noisy and fussy! He sleeps soundly until around 1.30/2pm then for the rest of the night he rumbles and fusses and cries out every 20/30 mins. We've given him a dummy (bad parents!) on the advice of the HV as he's always been a really fussy baby who seeks comfort non stop. But it works for a short while then he spits it out and roots about for it again. So we are up and down most of the night,

We've tried giving him milk but he's not hungry. (He SCREAMS when he's hungry!) We've tried giving him water. He's not got wind. His bum isn't overly wet or dirty! When we try and cuddle him for comfort it just wakes him up fully and it takes forever to get him back to sleep. If we don't do anything he just fusses until he works himself up to a cry.

Has anyone experienced similar? Just a noisy, fussy sleeper? He's been awake since 7.30 (half an hour) and I've tried giving him a bottle and he's just playing with it - with awake and happy! So definitely not hungry!

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you’ve just entered the four month sleep regression! Google it, it’s a very common thing for babies to go through. They’re changing their sleep patterns to be more like an adult, so find it harder to settle when awake.

I co-slept with dd when she went through it as it’s the only way I got some sleep! But I understand that isn’t for everyone. All I can say is: it does pass! So no help, but solidarity Grin

Thanks @TeddyIsaHe but he's ALWAYS done it! I should have said that. We didn't bother so much when he was up more for bottles in the night but we notice it more now! ☹️
