Nappy Sizes - did you ever reach size 6?

My 20 month DS (average size, always hovered around 50th percentile), progressed smoothly from size 1 to 5. He has been in size 5 nappy pants since before his first birthday I think. There are offers on at the moment so i'd like to stock up. I'd hopefully like to start potty training a few months after he turns two. Is it worth buying size 6 in advance or do some toddlers never reach size 6?

No, I think we only got up to 4.

If he does reach size 6 though they'll probably have the special offer on again.

No they tend to grow taller and not wider for a long while. My 4 year old wears size 5 at night still.

Dd2 has been in 6+ for a while and she's 2.4

Thanks - i'm a bit paranoid about the offers now because although in the past we always managed to but on offer, in November, December and early Jan literally nowhere had pampers nappy pants on offer, we completely ran out and had to pay the silly price of like £8 for a smallish pack, which can be half the price when on offer. Not they are on offer everywhere - i'm now panic buying lots in advance! Hate feeling ripped off!

Nope - never made it to 6's. AFAIK, 5s go up to around 25kg which is 4 stones. I don't know many children of that size/weight without SEN that haven't been potty trained yet, so I reckon you'd be fine to bulk buy 5s.

Ds1 has been in 6's since he was about 16 months so yes we definitely reached it.

Mine wear 6s at night (they seem to wee loads at night) but we never got to 6s in the day

My 2.5 yr old has 6+ at night. No matter how keen you are to potty train, you need to wait for a hormone to be released before they will be dry overnight.

DD needed size 6 when she was 2.5 but she's very tall

TheBrillo Hmm

Dd2 is about 12kg and fits into them but she is quiet tall and the others leak.

I dont think I will, accidently bought my 20m old sone size 5s and they were too big (he's in 4s usually)

He's recently been telling me every time he does a wee so I think I'll be potty training him as soon as the weather gets warmer.

I think dc3 was in a 6+ by about 12 months, she was very chunky
Dc1 was definitely in a 6 before potty training at 2.5.
Dc2 was quite dinky I think she was in a 5 when I potty trained her.
Dc4 is in a 4+ at 9 months, I'd assume he will need a 6.

I don't think we're be buying 6's yet but dd speech is v limited so I don't think we're be potty training until age 3

I’m not sure I would bother at this stage. There are normally some offers to be had around nappies. Amazon pricing is normally pretty good if you have prime.

My eldest was in 5s when potty trained but bear in mind that they are unlikely to be dry at night for quite a while, particularly as a boy. That was when we used the 6s for age3-4

EggsonHeads · 17/01/2018 16:57

We used five and six interchangeably. The only difference we noticed was capacity. They may be most useful when he is dry during the day but still needing nappies at night.

No DS1 was fully out of nappies at 2years and 9months. We only reached size 4. DS2 is 14 months and has just gone into size 5! Which is odd because he's a little dot too.

My 2.5 yo is in size 6 nappies at night but she is very tall - wears 3-4yr clothing!

My 10 month old wears size 6 like his brother who is 3 years 9 months as it's easier to buy them all the same size, they fit him nicely... sumo baby! Grin
