It’s a tricky age and I get so concerned he’s not eating enough/drinking enough milk! Hard to strike the balance! What do you do roughly?

6ish - wake and 90ml formula
7.30ish - breakfast but only picks. I usually do toast/drop scones/fruit as he won’t be spoon fed cereal!
9.30 100ml milk and 1st nap
11- wake
12 -lunch - either sandwich/quiche/leftovers
1.30 - 100ml milk and nap
3- wake
I usually offer snack after nap but he rarely wants it
5 - dinner of whatever we are having made baby friendly
7 - 100ml milk and bed
Often wakes once at night and often wants tiny bit of milk (50ml?)

Does this sound normal?! He only has about 450ml milk and doesn’t take much water from sippy cup.

Any recommendations to change?

From age 1 they only need the equivalent of 300mls of milk as dairy products, milk in cereal/ foods count too. Mine had 2 milk feeds at that age and water with meals.

@dementedpixie do you know how much water your baby was drinking? Mine doesn’t seem to get the soppy cup yet so I have to give more milk just for hydration right?

I have a prem baby so we are under dietitians (although his weight gain is excellent). Basically by a year they are happy for milk intake to be 400-500 mls and the majority of the calories to come from food. Just persevere with it.

What cup do you use? I used the tommee tippee first cup with a free flow spout. To start with they just took sips but it gradually increased

Well we have about 6 different sippy cups as we’ve experimented but we stick to the tommee tippee free flow now! Hoping he’ll get to grips with it more soon! He just grabs it from me and turns it upside down and then watches the water flow out or if I put it in his mouth he takes a sip and then spits it out which he thinks is hilarious!!
