When did your baby stop having a feed during the night?

DS2 is 7 months and still having a dream feed at about 10pm and another feed at about 3am (bottle fed). He will barely touch milk during the day at all so I put it in his porridge etc. I really wish he would drop one or both of these feeds and take more milk during the day, but if I try to skip it he screams bloody murder and wakes up DS1.

He’s having three meals a day already but even if I drop one he won’t substitute it with milk. He’ll still only drink milk at night.

DS1 was sleeping 7pm to 7am with no feeds at 12 weeks, so a totally different experience. DS2 is a shit sleeper anyway and I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. He has never ever slept through, not even once, and rarely goes more than three hours overnight without waking. Help!

3 children here. They stopped the 3 am feed at 8, 13 and 16 weeks, and the 11pm feed at 6, 7 and 8 months.

My 8 month old takes (breast) milk feeds at 10pm and 4am ish, compared with my DD I think he's an awesome sleeper! She fed hourly and only stopped night feeds when I night weaned her at 2 years. Your baby sounds well within the normal range to me, I think you've just been a bit spoiled having an exceptional DC1 (sorry)

My dd stopped at about 10 months and has now started up again as she is so fussy with food. She's 17 months now

My eldest stopped at about 15 months, the middle one at 12 months and the youngest is 8 months and still has between 1 and 3 feeds a night (breastfed)

I don't think you're doing anything wrong by the way. I think your dc1 was just really unusual.

Ah, I did fear I might have been spoiled with DS1... he has his moments in other ways though, believe me!

I don’t mind doing the feeds as such, it’s just DS is really unsettled after 3am and we’re basically up and down from then onwards. It used to be that the feed would settle him and he’d sleep until 5:30-6 ish, which I’m fine with, but now he’s not settling. Thinking I might have months/years more of this is a killer...

Never had the dream feed at 10pm but my baby held on to the final feed at 5am till 11 months. If I didn’t give it then he’ll winge and be up from that time vs giving him the feed and he goes back to bed till 7.30am

DD at 8 months has just stopped her dream feed (or rather, I stopped it) and dropped her 3am feed about a month ago. Remarkably easy process and only needed a little encouragement from me.

I got lucky, and figure she must have been balancing out her brother who was awful!

Around 7 months old once we had established 3 meals a day. Doesn’t stop her waking at night though annoyingly.

20 month old here still wakes in the night for milk. So so tired! I blame teeth and the fact she has gone off of food too. I miss sleep so very much

Dd was around 13 mo when she dropped her final night feed. I think she was similar to your ds2 at his age (2 night feeds and fussy after 2nd).

14 months here and still having night feeds. Ds was 5 months.

My eldest was about 2 and my 18 month old still has two bottles a night currently so I would hope he will give them up by 2 as well. I think you were just lucky the first time OP. Sometimes night feeds are more about comfort that hunger so that's harder to give up until they find a different source of comfort. (for DS1 it was getting a duvet and growing attached to a teddy that helped him sleep better)

Well I suppose that’s quite a spectrum! I’m glad to hear he’s ‘normal’ but not so glad that we might be here for the long haul. I’ve considered ditching the dream feed at 10 but at least I can do that and then go to sleep. I worry that he would then wake me up twice...

9 months. We didn't do anything to encourage it. She just started to eat more during the day and stopped wanting it. Of course, she still woke in the night until 3.5, but she didn't want a feed. At 7 months though, she was definitely still having 2 feeds a night.

I'd be inclined to drop the dream feed, but that's just me. DS is ten months and tens to go down at around 7-7.30pm and wakes for a feed at around 3.30am. Weirdly for a couple of weeks when he was cutting teeth he slept through most nights!!

6 months, EBF, went from 7pm-6:30am I was (pleasantly) surprised!

I did feed OFTEN in the daytime though (both sides every 2 hours 7am-7pm from about 4 months) until fully established on solids. Didn't get much any housework done for months though!

About 18 months. She was little, and she was hungry. Night weaning would not have worked for her sooner so we decided to go with the flow.
