Is this too extravagant a gift?

My husband surprised me with a Diptique beauty advent calendar which I was thrilled with but I’d already purchased a liberty calendar (unbeknowst to him). I could easily take back either calendar as I really don’t need two but I suggested we gift it to my step-daughter as she has been doing fabulously well in school and really deserves a treat. My husband disagrees as he believes it’s an over the top gift (which I suppose it is) but I thought it’d be nice and that way she and I can have some girly nights trying out her products. I obviously won’t go against my husband’s wishes as she’s his daughter I just thought it’d be nice for us. I should say that my step-son is also doing great academically so we will take him to the cinema and for food so that he doesn’t feel like he’s getting the rough end of the deal. Should I back off or should I push and try to make my husband see my side?

How old is she? Sounds like a fab treat for her if you can afford to give her it. As long as you treat tor DSS too then I think it’s a lovely idea.

I've just looked up what they cost. Yes, it is!

Also, he bought it for you. Despite your reasoning it is a little unkind to suggest passing it on to someone else. Accept graciously.
