Early baby development

Hi all!
I'm new here. Probably a silly question.
My DS was four weeks early and was born six weeks ago.
I'm wondering, when people talk about baby's smiling at 6 weeks and doing something else at 8 weeks does this mean from due date or from date born? My health visitor said she'd be expecting smiles from him anytime even though he was four weeks early? Thanks in advance! Just wondering if I have to wait an extra four weeks for all these things to happen (I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to the maybe sleeping slightly longer between bottles phase....!)

Congratulations on your lovely DS. Mine was born at 35+5 so similar to yours and the advice we had was that they are all different and might follow an average pattern or might not. For us there have been no hard and fast rules. Smiled at 6 weeks, v late to roll and crawl but average to pull to standing, cruise and walk. Is now a bit above average language wise. all you can really do is keep an eye on it and try not to worry too much. Easier said than done i know. Hope you get some smiles soon!

We already have one little boy but he was 38+3 so never had to consider this! It's good to know how other kids have developed but also sound advice just to go with the flow and see what happens, though I'm trying so hard for smiles and have been totally unsuccessful!

My Ds was 38 weeks and he didn’t smile for ages but then talked really early. They are just guidelines, try not to stress too much
