I'm going to scream...

If I hear the word "no" one more time I'm going to scream. My son turned three last week & all I ever hear is " no mummy ".

Anyone else have exceptionally defiant toddlers? Does anyone have any advice?

Examples "C can you grab your shoes for me?"
"No"

"C do you want to go to the park today?"
"No"

"C It's dinner time now! Are you hungry?"
"No"

Literally everything I ask is met with that word.

Annoying isn’t it but could you try phrasing things differently.

We are going outside, do you want to wear wellies or shoes?

We are going to the park, do you want to feed the ducks or play on the swings first?

It’s dinnertime, who do you think will finish first?

Ahh yes! maybe I should give him more choices rather than keep telling him? - gosh that seems pretty obvious now it's been pointed out.

I'll give it a go and see if it helps the situation x Thank You! Xx

Don’t worry, it was pointed out to me when my eldest was around the same age by a very wise granny Smile

Agree with everyone - statements rather than questions and offering a choice (both acceptable to you!) as often as you can. Obviously the answer will probably still be no but you might get the odd one! Grin
