Kids want a fitness tracker

Hi all, me and DP recently bought ourselves a cheap Fitbit type tracker and now our DS (9) and DD (7) have asked if they can buy their own out of birthday money. I was just wondering if other people would let their children have one?

If its fitbit i think u have to put in your age when you set it up and i dont think it will allow under a certain age

cant see a problem tbh, other than maybe losing it. So for that reason I would not buy a dear one

I got a Jawbone Up (I think) in Home Bargains or maybe B&M for about a tenner....it has a bangle or a clip attachment, and synced with a phone via Bluetooth

Or maybe just get simple pedometers?

It's not an actual Fitbit, we call it a shitbit 🙄 Haha. It was only £17 off amazon and the kids wanted to buy their own so we let them. I just wondered if people would think it was inappropriate, like we were pushing them to do so many steps or something! They'll lose interest after a few weeks I'm sure. Thanks for the replies Smile

Of course I would. Any incentive for an active kid is a bonus imo.

We just bought our boys (9 and 7) a Goji tracker from currys. Comes with an app you can download and they love it and are competing every day to see who can get the most steps! It's brilliant, I agree, anything to make kids more active.

Hi OP, which one did you get in teh end and would you recommend it. Most importantly are they still using it?!

Hi Possum Smile we got them a Letscom fitness tracker from Amazon, they're under £20 and do pretty much everything a Fitbit does! To be fair to the kids they used them constantly when they first got them, and now still wear them at the weekends. I'd definitely recommend them!
