How old should your kid be before you can sit them in front of a film and go to the adjacent room for a snooze?

My DD is almost 2 and has been awake since 4.45am. I would love a little nap.

She's got a clean nappy, a drink and is happily watching her favourite film.

Still too young for me to close my eyes for a few mins?

sorry, too young.

Paninotogo Sat 27-May-17 06:44:03

If she will watch a film then why not? Catch a nap where you can is the general rule I thought?

Too young to leave, but can you not have a little zizz on the sofa? That would be perfectly acceptable imo!

MrTumblesbitch Sat 27-May-17 06:44:47

Can't you snooze on the sofa with him? I used to wrap myself around ds so I could feel when he moved. Too young to leave though for sure, sorry

I wouldn't leave the room at that age, but DH sleeps on the couch with DS watching a film and has since he was under 2 and I think that's totally fine.

I feel your pain DD1 was an early riser. I would stay in the same room, my eyes while not falling asleep fully, the trick is to not lie down flat!
At two I wouldnt leave them in case they start climbing etc

lise my eyes hmm

Thanks all, I probably wouldn't have been able to relax anyway knowing she was awake. Offered her a cuddle on the sofa but got a dismissive push and 'no mummy'

I've snoozed on the sofa since mine were both safely mobil with the baby gate on the door locked.

AdalindSchade Sat 27-May-17 07:12:08

Leave them while you go back to bed? At least 5. Snoozing on the sofa is different (as long as you aren't a very heavy sleeper)

Believeitornot Sat 27-May-17 07:13:43

Just sit with her.

Sunnie1984 Sat 27-May-17 08:54:16

Or if you have an iPad take her to bed with you. They can watch the film on the iPad and you can snooze.

CountryCaterpillar Sat 27-May-17 08:55:43

I wouldn't and mine is 4. I have laid on the sofa with her on me and "closed my eyes" but she still chats etc and knows to wake me if I actually slept!

I used to take ds1 to my bed let him watch a movie and I slept i'm a light sleeper as soon as he moved or spoke I woke up.
