Baby car seat advice

I have a DD who is 2 weeks old. Just wondering if anyone knew what the guidelines are for how long newborns can spend in car seats? I have read somewhere that it is now advised that they only spend 30 minutes in a car seat but can't find how long this is for. Thank you.

I believe it's up until 4 weeks. Remember seeing this story the day after we'd driven 2 hours with our newborn DD. Eeeek! She was fine though luckily.

I think officially the guidance is 90 mins to 2 hours but there was a study done recently which is where the 30 minute recommendation came from. That hasn't been adopted as the official line though as far as I know.

I had to travel when DD was 2 and half weeks old. We stopped every 2 hours at least so the journey took forever and I sat next to her to check her which was the best we felt we could do in the circumstances.

Ok thank you. We are planning to travel around 2 hours when DD is 4 weeks old so should be ok

The 30 rule is because babies can't support their heads so they don't get enough oxygen.

Generally babies should not be left for extended times in car seat as it can effect their muscle development.

Did a similar For a two hour journey at 4 weeks, I'd allow enough time to stop once, feed and bum change if necessary. But maybe I was a bit pfb with DS.
