DS was born a big baby (9lb 6oz), BF exclusively for the first 8 months, and has stayed on the >96% range in height and weight since birth.
He's also had a large stomach size (based on antenatal ultrasounds scans) from birth and has always had a great appetite for both food and milk.
I know we are lucky with his size and appetite in many respects but here is the thing - I am worried by how large his tummy is. We were told he would slim down once he started crawling and moving about, and he has - but his tummy is still very big. To give you an idea, he wears 18 month old trousers and most of them, unless very elasticated around the waist, can't be done up around his waist. He's always frustrated at the end of mealtimes unless he has had loads of food (he is happy with both spoon feeding and feeding himself). But then he also has lots of burps even hours after mealtime.
HVs and GP keep saying it's nothing to worry about because they see him as a healthy big boy. I feel like my concerns are being dismissed because there is no "acute" issue per se. Neither advised me to ration portions even though I asked about it. That feels like putting him on a diet ... But should I!?
Any advice from anyone whose DC has been in similar situation would be gratefully received.
