Baby routine

I know there's probably no right or wrong way to do this but just interested in others opinions.

My 4 month old dd has been in a little routine for about the past 7 weeks....5 bottles a day at approx 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm and 11pm. She would then sleep through waking up 2-3 times but would go back to sleep with her dummy. I thought this was perfect for us.

Keep reading about other mums putting similar aged babies to bed at around 7pm and them sleeping through, so though I must be doing something wrong. (Dd usually sleeps between 7pm and 11pm bottles though).

Also Dh doesn't agree that occasionally I have to wake her for a feed.

The other day we waiting forever for a docs appointment and dd missed her feed but slept right through till 6pm so I though maybe I should just demand feed.

Tried this for 2 days....she sleeps longer in the day and feeds every 5-6 hours and will take an extra oz on each feed, but she is restless in the night and wakes at around 3.30am hungry.

My initial routine worked better I thought, so should we just go back to that?

Sorry this is so long, just wanted to give all details.

Stick with your original routine. Honestly, I believed my friends and family whrn they said oh so and so sleeps through from 7-7 - until I probed further and realised they meant sleeps and only wakes to be fed once or twice (like yours) and then is up for the day at 7. Some babies wake at 2 and are up for 2/3 hours. So, I think at 4 months a baby is far too little to go 12 hours without a feed (I have 2 and my 10 month old has only recently started waking just once). Hes a fantastic sleeper. The first woke hourly.

Don't change a thing or listen to what other people do. You know your child best and what works for you won't work for anyone else.

Absolutely go back to the routine that suited you before, why wouldn't you?
All babies are different, she is only 4 months. I had one sleep 12 hours at 4 months, but the other two were 6 months before they slept 12 hours.
Who cares what other babies do!

Also, it is completely up to you - but I did demand feed. This was awful with my first terrible sleepwr but is fantastic with my second good sleeper.

Stick with your original routine if it worked for you. Just be warned that even the most perfect routine led baby can decide one day to sod it and start with the bloody night wakings again speaks from bitter experience

Wake for feeds in the day but not at night. Wouldn't go longer than 3 hours without a feed in the day.

Thank you for the responses. I did feel a bit like I was a shit parent. Wish I'd stuck to my guns and kept on with the original routine. Think I'll trust my instincts from now on!
