New mum feeling like the worse mum in the world!

Please tell me this will pass and it's normal to feel like this! All I want right now is to get in the bath and eat pudding and sleep! But I feel terrible for leaving my husband with a screaming 2 week old because he's off back to work tomorrow I just can't seem to handle it sometimes I get too stressed out with it.
I feel like I'm pushing myself too much when everybody tells me to rest but I'm too stubborn! I had a terrible pregnancy followed by a worse birth where I had an emergency c section due to preeclampsia where I had a seizure and I'm still on medication for it that makes me feel so ill I can't eat and a slipped disc from pregnancy so I'm in total agony but I feel like these are poor excuses to rest and not be a mum!

You will be a better mum if you rest. Being a new mum is relentless. You need bath, pudding and sleep. And yes it gets easier. Much much easier. Flowers

Rest! Resting doesn't mean you're not being a mum. Your baby needs you to look after yourself as well! Your husband's going back to work tomorrow, but you'll also be working tomorrow looking after a newborn. Go and eat pudding and have a bath (preferably at the same time!)

Flowers Do you have nearby family and friends who can support you when DH is back at work?

Seriously, you need to read that back as if a friend of yours is talking. You've had major surgery, you're unwell and in pain and you are expecting to be super mum? Take a chill pill and relax. Enjoy not having to do anything except look after your baby. And yourself! You need to be well to look after your baby so take the time to recover properly.

Blimey, don't be so hard on yourself. You've really been through the mill, I totally understand how you're feeling. You're not a bad mum, you're a mum who's had a rough time.

Everything will get better in time, so yes look after yourself, don't try and do too much, rest, enjoy your baby, rest a bit more, have takeaways, watch daytime TV and eat some chocolate. Flowers

You need a bath, some pudding & to rest. Your dh will cope if you go to bed now, split the night if it helps you feel better. I wouldn't be a ftm again for all the money in the world it was so bloody hard. Tomorrow when baby naps do nothing except sleep, watch tv & eat. The hoovering & dusting will still be there on Thursday (or Friday Wink). I promise you're not the worst mum in the world.

Go to bed now. Let go of the guilt. I sat almost 9 months ago about to write the exact same thing as you did. I couldn't see an end to it, I thought that was my life forever! It will pass, very quickly too. I won't tell you to enjoy it, because I didn't, it can torture. But soon things will fall into place, you will get more of a routine, know what baby needs etc. You will gain confidence (and more sleep). But for now, take ALL the help you can get, rest and sleep whenever you can. Go and eat your pudding! I found the first 3 weeks torture, then it got better, then it got just so amazing. We are at 9 months and it has just flown by! Take care of yourself Cake
