Nappy Rash And Teething

My poor boy has nappy rash for the first time at 10 months old, he's also teething and has had diarrhoea. Has anyone else noticed that their baby has had diarrhoea whilst teething?

Yes mine have seemed to. My hv said it's because of the extra saliva they produce. I found wiping their bums with just cotton wool & water helped as well as cream (metanium in our case). Give his bum a good airing at every change too.

This happened to ds every single time he cut a tooth.
I'm pretty convinced the teething rash and diarrhoea are all linked. (even heard somewhere though don't know how true it is that there is something in their saliva that helps to soften the gums so that the teeth break through more easily but that it also works on other tissue hence the runs and rash)

Your poor little boy! Plenty of cuddles, calpol and nappy rash cream!

And merry Christmas Xmas Smile

Definitely - gums and bums are linked. The good news it doesn't last long. Air their bums at nappy change if possible and use a good nappy cream (metanium seemed to be the most effective IMO).

Midwife told me Its apparently because as they chew more they pick up more bacteria which then comes out the other end causing them to have a sore bum until they become more used to the germs anyway.
