Cleaning soiled pants?

My DS has special needs. He is mostly potty trained but at least 3-4 times a week does a small amount of poo in his pants before making it to the toilet.

Since it's usually just a tiny smudge, sometimes a large smudge, I tend to just chuck them in the machine on a hot wash with laundry disinfectant. DH did loads of laundry this weekend and I picked up some beautifully clean folded clothes and realised they had a subtle smell of poo. On inspecting the washing machine, there was poo on the door and in the rubber seal. I've disinfected everything but now wondering what to do.

Do I just bin soiled pants? Soak them? The thought of soaking them or stuff like that makes me feel a bit nauseous, I get sick easily, cleaning the washing machine this morning had me gagging. Maybe I should just buy loads of really cheap pants?

I hold them in the loo and give them a good flush to rinse most of it down the loo. They then get washed with towels/ cloths at 60 with bio powder.

I just used to scrub them under a hot tap with some Fairy then hot wash with bio powder.

Clean sink afterwards obvs.

My son is 7 with SN too and I just bin them. I used to try and wash but like you have found everything in the laundry then smelled of poo. I get 20 pairs for £6 in B&M bargains every couple of weeks.
