I've decided to give this a go as normally DS eats, sleeps then plays. Today I've done it the other way and he's had a good nap both feeds. He's actually fallen asleep of his own accord on the living room rug where I put him while I took something into the kitchen. Could hear him giggling one second then he went quiet - stuck my head round the door and he's gone off. How long for I don't know but I feel much happier today - can't believe I didn't think tiring him out first would work lol. Will try and stick to this routine as much as possible - at least when we're at home.

Now time to read the trashy magazine my OH bought me when he came home to me crying yesterday as I couldn't settle DS. He'll see a different woman today!

Well it's worked today so fingers crossed for tomorrow. It's meant he's fallen asleep after some play time which I would prefer than him nodding off with a bottle as he gets grumpy for his next bottle because he's tired as well! And it's helped me keep an eye on how long he's napped. He's only eight weeks but I wanted some sort of routine at this stage, mainly because I function much better with one and it's dictated by him.

Hopefully tomorrow goes as well!

Eat, activity, sleep, you. So today instead of DS having a nap straight after feed I've laid him on his play gym or the floor and played or talked to him or read him a book. Then he's slept then I've had some me time. He actually nodded off on his own which doesn't happen often and it's stopped him being a grumpy arse as he's not tired and hungry at the same time. I know how shit I am when I'm hangry so even worse at 8 weeks old. And I've been able to remember how long he's slept. You could set your watch by my son and his hungry time slots so it's far better for my sanity for him to wake up in time for it rather than him getting arsy for it.

Agreed - I read about it just before having DS (now 8m) and tried to stick roughly to it from birth. It's worked well for us. He eats well, sleeps well and I still have some of my sanity left!
