15 month old and tooth brushing

DS hates it! We've tried making it fun (singing/dancing etc) letting him brush our teeth but nothing works. We've tried to not force it on him or make a big deal out of it but I'm stumped now and worried for his teeth.

Could it just be a phase as he didn't used to mind having his teeth cleaned.

A few friends have suggested trying him with an electric toothbrush, any more suggestions?

My 18 mth old will only let me brush his teeth if he is distracted. He stands on a stool at the sink and I give him a toothbrush for each hand (with a bit of toothpaste on). He spends ages "brushing" his teeth and dipping his toothbrushes under the running water. When he's engrossed in "brushing," I use a third toothbrush to actually brush (stand behind him). When I have finished brushing, I count to ten to warn him the tap is going to be turned off and he's then happy to put his toothbrushes in the pot. He didn't respond to singing, brushing my teeth etc so might be worth a try?

We used to wrap ds in a towel and brush them, even when he didn't want us to, it was a method that the dentist showed us. It was also easier to brush them if he was lying on my lap, so he was sort of upside down (if that makes sense). We had tried all other methods before doing this, and it is too important. He is fine about me brushing his teeth now, but was very resistant for a very long time.

My 2.3yo is not mostly compliant with tooth brushing but for a good year acted like we were brushing his teeth with acid. A few things that helped:

Electric light up toothbrush
Tv
annoying brush brush brush YouTube song
Bribery - "if you let me brush your teeth then you can have your dummy now rather than when you go to bed"

I've just ordered DS2 a baby electric toothbrush from jojo maman... he hates his teeth being brushed but it was easier using my electure toothbrush so getting him his own.

We had battles for ages, I did just pin him down and do it regardless of all protests. Not sure what changed but by about 2 he was much better. Now he 'brushes' and then I brush them properly.
