Breastfed babies and dirty nappies

Hi!

I have a 3 week old baby girl (will be 4 weeks Monday) she didn't have a poo yesterday and seems to be straining today, red face, knees up etc! Doesn't seem overly upset and isn't crying. She is breastfed and feeding really well and she has plenty of wet nappies. Is this normal to miss a day having a poo?

I'm a new mum so everything worries me haha! Hope someone can give me some advise! I've read online Breast fed babies can go quite a few days however some things say they should have a few a day!

Thanks! Smile

Very normal. There's not much waste from breastmilk.

My eldest's record was 11 days. It was carnage when he eventually went though Grin

Congratulations!

My dd is 6 months old, was breastfed & we only had dirty nappies on a weekly basis at most! Now she's weaning it's getting more frequent.

Normal, breastfed babies can go something crazy like 8 days between poos. Mine never did, max one day but then it would be a mega explosion. Just feed lots
