pissed off 20 mo

DS2 is almost 20 months and in the past week has transformed....

I know that this is all normal (although DS1 wasn't this bad...) and this is more of a rant than anything else but OMG HE'S DRIVING ME INSANE!!!!

Everything I do is wrong - the wrong book, the wrong spoon, the wrong cartoon, the wrong toy, the wrong t-shirt.

And the minute something isn't write he drops into the prayer position, covers his face with both hands, throws head back and SCREAMS!!!

At. Every. Little. Thing.

He's clearly at peak frustration - he's starting to talk but obviously can't quite say EXACTLY what he wants, which must be hard for him - and its certainly hard for me! He wants to do things like climb on the kitchen table, crawl along the window ledge, bang wooden blocks against the windows so I feel all I'm doing is stopping him from doing what he wants, which again - sucks for him, and sucks for me! He can't do everything DS1 (4yo) does, so that's no fun for him either. He's misunderstood and thwarted all day long! No wonder he's so cross...

BUT!! He's SUCH hard work! I feel he's always pissed off and crying and angry and he keeps wagging his finger at me going NO! Mummy! NO! when he wants something he's not getting, or he'll snatch a book out of my hand and throw it to the floor and shout NOT BOOK! He gets sooooooo cross. And he's very hard to distract to get him out of his tantrum.

Anyway. DS1 wasn't this hard work at this age, and I know it's no good comparing your kids, but I used to think "what are these terrible 2s people moan about??" with DS1 (although then he turned 3 and that's another story....). I'm now starting to realise and I don't know how I'm going to manage...??

Any tips for 20mo with an strong opinion of what they want in a world set to stop them getting it...? Wink
