simple pumping schedule???

Just managed to get 5 mo DD on the bottle. I'd like to ensure she doesn't forget how to take it by giving her one bottle a day of expressed milk. I'd love to give formula but she is dairy intolerant and the formulas available are vile tasting so we've had no luck there!

Can anyone please provide a simple pumping schedule for one 4-5oz bottle per day? I am usually fullest in the morning/after lunch. I'm a bit confused as to when is best to express and whether to try to do it in one session...

TIA

A lot of mums do find it easier to express in the morning. Have you been doing so already?

You can feed off one side then pump of the other that can work quite well as it helps stimulate your letdown well. Can be a bit tricky to do I know but often worth a go.

You may not get that full amount to start with if you haven't been expressing regularly up to now. But you may be able to build it up. Best thing is to try a few things out and see what works for you really.

Morning is usually best.

I used to pump immediately after the first morning feed to get most of a bottle. Then if necessary would do a top up after DD in bed for the night (crap time to pump but first chance I got as DD was a terrible napper!)

How often you need to pump to get a full bottle's worth completely depends on how your particular boobs react to pumping - it varies hugely from woman to woman.

If you get a chance after lunch then I'd do straight after the first morning feed and then top up after lunch.

I only ever pumped late in the evening, just before the single bottle feed of the day (pumped enough for the next night's bottle feed)

Thanks all. Pumping seems to be getting harder.... Don't really want to increase supply now either. Will try doing it over a few sessions.

I found by far the best time to pump was about 3 morning. I got oceans! You probably don't want to do that though unless your dd is awake then!
