Quietening down 10.5mo

DD is 10.5months, she's generally a happy little baby.

We have one problem, when she's very happy she screeches and screams. She particularly does this when we go food shopping.

It's loud enough that MIL (who works in the shop we do our weekly shop in) says she can hear her when on the opposite side of the store to us. Customers are complaining because they can't hear the music/concentrate/she starts screaming next to them and makes them jump. Staff say they know when we're in the store and while not effected/distracted by it I still fear were close to being banned from the store - which would be annoying as we have a discount card off MIL which is a big help money wise.

I really don't know what to do, I'm glad she's happy and wants to show that but it can be just as annoying for me and DH who can also be concentrating when she starts.

We've tried going in when she's sleeping but everytime we go in at nap time she seems to wake up and cry which is even more upsetting/annoying for staff and customers.

She won't take a dummy at all, and toys just make her more excited and louder.

Any suggestions? I really need to do something

Options are:
shop online
go shopping when your husband is home and leave the baby with him
send your husband shopping

I assume because the options are pretty obvious.

I managed to go shopping without DD when she was a baby.
