Film to watch at 7 year olds party

Any ideas? DS wanted to watch Star Wars but one of his friends can't watch anything scary. Then he wanted either Kung Fu Panda 3 or Alvin & the Chipmunks but they're not out until next month. Now we just can't think of anything that they all haven't seen before.

When this happened to us I went old school. Have a look at some DVDs from the past that might be suitable and they haven't seen. My kids love Bee Movie, a knights tale and some mothers do ave em ( frank spencer).

Mr Bean is quite funny, agree going retro is good - home alone, Herbie, anything slapstick, nothing with a storyline which needs to be followed.

Do be aware though that attention span varies especially when excited and you will have some children wandering away from the film after 20 minutes, some will say whatever you have is boring/ seen it/ too scary / too babyish. Have something that they can do in another room / help you with food etc. Mine have enjoyed DVDs and sat through films transfixed from an early age might have encouraged that for some peace but some other children seem to want to be entertained more and unless it hits their particular interest they wander off.

I did a video with girls for an 8th birthday party and decided never again (well until older). At sleepovers with just a few other dc it is fine as they can have a bit of say in what they want to watch. You need something in another room (?drawing/ craft/ lego) which will occupy a child but not too interesting that they all want to do it. I think that we ended up with only half still watching it and they had got annoyed with their friends messing around because they wanted to watch. I thought it would be an easy option but it really wasn't.

So I reckon something funny, fairly short, not too many friends (8 friends was too many), and children who are happy to sit and watch. Plus something to give to the children who wander out.
