Bugaboo cameleon pushchair or Maclaren on beach holiday?

We're taking our DS to the Maldives in June (DS will be 7 months). We have a Bugaboo cameleon and DS is very comfortable in it, only issue is it's quite heavy/ difficult to collapse. A friend suggested we buy a Maclaren buggy for the trip. Anyone else done the same? How is the Maclaren on sand? Also, if anyone has any good travel tips for flying with a baby (11hr flight then 40min seaplane) id love to hear them!

I have a Maclaren and live it to death! I took it with me everytime I travelled and it made life so much easier. I don't know why people bother with big heavy strollers at all, unless your baby is too small to fit in the Maclaren. Otherwise always go lighter.

We have a Britax affinity & a Maclaren. We got the Maclaren in January when DS was 16 months & within a couple of weeks had made a permanent switch to it as its so much easier to use. We took the Britax on holiday with us when he was 6 months old & it felt a bit cumbersome round the airport etc. Took the Maclaren away in March & was great. Folds out in seconds. Light to carry. Has a good recline so DS could sleep well in it. We got ours off eBay.

Maclaren is no good on sand, but is light enough to carry, even with dc in it. Plus much easier on the plane, and no punctures to worry about.

Oh god do not take the bugaboo! If it survives the plane journey it's a nightmare on the sand, you'll have to keep it upright as its too heavy to keep folding, it's big to store etc. we got a maclaren for all those reasons and used it to death on holidays.
