reflux/bottom end trapped wind connection? Please help x

From birth my blue twin was always more difficult than my pink twin. He would cry more, be sick all the time, refuse to be put down etc. I now think that the poor baby was suffering from silent reflux. Anyway at 4 months old he started with actual reflux (really smelly cottage cheese sick). We tried gaviscon and ranitidine and we are now on omeprazole. From being 3-6 months he slept through the night. Then at Christmas he was ill and hasn't slept through since.
In the past 2 months he wakes screaming the house down. I pick him up and he thrashes around like mad until eventually doing some really painful trumps and then eventually he will settle again.
We paid privately to see a paed GI specialist who prescribed the omeprazole and said that the pain was because his reflux isn't under control.
If you've read this far I thank you.
My question is does anyone else's baby suffer from reflux and trapped bottom wind? Is there a link between the two and what can I do about it? Ive tried infacol, massage, cycling legs, staying upright after feeds. DS is 11 months old and breastfed. Thank you x

My DD suffered with silent reflux, and was prescribed gaviscon....which did help her reflux symptoms to a certain extent, but it also made her terribly constipated, and she would writhe around, crying and pushing until she did really big farts - mostly needing help from us by cycling her legs and rubbing her tummy Sad We were feeding her expressed breastmilk and formula. We changed her formula from the regular first milk to comfort formula and stopped with the expressed milk, and she was no longer constipated! The trapped wind was much easier to manage as well Smile
Hope you find some relief for your baby!!

Hi, my dd is nearly 13 weeks and has had reflux ( the doctor wouldn't give her anything for it as she was still putting weight on) but she has always woken up at around 4am with trapped wind. As shes got older its not usually as bad and if i change her nappy and do cycling legs it does help get the wind out now but it is still disturbing her sleep. I've found gripe water quite good and have started her on baby probiotics after reading some good reviews.

Is he BF? Sorry for short msg as tied up with little one. Neocate formular issued by the doctor solved all of our issues with the reflux even more so that than meds. Has helped lots of people in the same situation. Worth investigating. Also, you tube colic baby massage as there are fab techniques to release wind. With my new baby I do this about 4/5 times a day and she hardly has any wind. Worth a try. Hope it gets resolved soon.

Thanks ladies yes he is breastfed. I've tried the probiotics and baby tummy teas, massage/cycling legs etc, he won't swallow gripe water unfortunately. we saw a cranial osteopath today so who knows of that will help. I will try doing the massage throughout the day instead of just bedtime. I just feel so bad for him x

Unfortunately, I had to go from bf to Neocate formular prescribed by the doctors as I was desperate to try anything. It really worked and I would def speak to a doctor about it if possible to see if it's an option. Def do the massage throughout the day. I do it in the minute baby wakes up, then at least another 4 times throughout the day. Cycling of the legs never worked for me. The colic massages that I got from google.. I think infacol do a video on youtube really worked to bring up wind amazingly. Are you giving infacol before every feed? This helped too. Poor thing hope he gets better soon x
