Need to vacuum once a day suggestions

MumToBe2015R · 16/01/2016 12:23

Used to vacuum 3times a week before but now LO is 5m and likes to play on the floor I feel I need to vacuum at least once a day.

Can anyone suggest a good compact vacuum cleaner? Nothing to expensive, I currently had a VAX bag less cylinder type but that's too heavy to carry up & down, 10yrs old & bendy pipe clip is broken. So need a new one anyway.

Suggestions would be great!! Thanks

Would love one of those dysons but there so expensive Shock

Dysons aren't great, imo, we had two and batteries just died after about a year. We now have a Bosch Athlet cordless. I'm quite evangelical about it as we use it 3x a day (cats plus one year old) and it's fantastic! Not great on the stairs, though.

If I vacuum once a fortnight I'm doing well, and when the kids were little I only vacd once a week.
Unless you are seriously messy, once a day is totally unnecessary imo.

Unless you have 7 hairy dogs you do not need to hoover daily.

My 2 are horribly messy children, I hoover at least once a day sometimes twice, we do have 10 cats though so there is that to consider. I have a Philips bagless pet hoover and it's very good. It meets the EU regulations, so is apparently low powered but I have to say it's better than my mums 2200 watt thing.

I'm sad to say I'm quite excited by our new fax air cordless lift! Not amazing suction but it works well enough for our floors (laminate not carpet). The sucky bit just lifts off for stairs and ceilings and we've been impressed by the battery life. Not sure it will ever get daily use in our house though. Was light enough for me use while pregnant/post c section too.

I got one of those old fashioned bissell carpet sweepers for "between hooverings". Fabulous. Home bargains I think, around £20.

I Hoover once a day and have a Henry. I can never understand when people on mumsnet say they only Hoover once a week! How? Just how? I'm out the house 7 house a day and still feel the need to get him out.

I have to hoover every day. I have roombas but have also just bought the rechargeable new dysons. I have never been a fan of dysons but these are great.

I barely hoover because I have a Henry (and I'm lazy). I hate him! It's so heavy and awkward.

The floor needs to crunch when I walk on it for it to be needed to be vacd

I have one of the cordless Dysons. It was about £300, ouch, but I use it every single day, so it was worth it.

I hoover when the sock fluff takes over! Unless you have pets I don't see the need to hoover daily

GTech Air Ram
Cordless
Very light
Makes dust into little brick-ettes to pop in the bin.,
Bit spendy, but they are on Quidco.

I hate vacuuming, but it is tolerable with the AirRam.

Get a Roomba or similar (there are robot vacs from £50-500 so you can find one to match your budget). Then you can set it Hoover once a day without even having to think about it.

We have a Miele cat and dog one which is good but unwieldy, but Christmas I got given a handheld little cordless one and it's BRILLIANT. We have a cleaner once a fortnight who hoovers properly through the whole house, and then we use the tiny one for day to day crumbs etc downstairs.

I hoover downstairs once a day, upstairs once a week. We have a Henry. I HAVE to hoover each day or the floor would literally crunch with all the crap and food bits underfoot. How do you 0nce a week er manage? Incredibly clean and non messy family or do you just ignore the mess?

I Hoover downstairs several times a day and upstairs once a week. I have a Hetty and she's fantastic. My gran had a Henry that's been around longer than I have and he's still going strong.

This^^

When DD was a baby, before she was walking, I used to spread an old sleeping bag out for her to play on. It was easier than vacuuming every day and softer for her to sit on.
