I've saw people say they done it basically ASAP, 2-3 days out in the pram
Then i see other people like "2 months at least, especially in the flu season!!" And I'm like, how am i meant to go out shopping every week to fill up the cupboards and the fridge if im going to be housebound with my baby?? Hmm

Whenever you like! Wrap them up warm and off you go, there's no time limit.

You don't have to stay indoors for any set period of time. I didn't go out with dd for at least a week or two after getting home from hospital, but that's because I was struggling to walk. Go out whenever you're ready.

Whenever you want. We went for a walk on day 3 (the day after I got out of hospital) with no issue. I don't see why you would keep them in for 2 months Confused

out and about doing normal stuff. Going to do the shopping, going for lunch, visiting family. At 3 weeks old we went on our first holiday 200 miles away!

I think it depends what people mean by 'out' - out socially, or just out shopping.
Mine were still in hospital for 7 - 10 days after birth, but with DD I took her out for a walk in the pram at about day 9, still a few weeks before she was due. DS was about 3 weeks old, as he was in hospital longer, and the weather was very bad -7C the night he came home! With each child DH drove us all to London 150+ miles to show them to MIL, on the weekend they had originally been due.
I've had mums turn up to mum and baby group I run with babies less than 2 weeks old (and I get to cuddle them!)
However, at 2 weeks post birth, you should be sending someone else out with a list, or doing internet shopping - save your energy where at all possible!

My oldest was in hospital for nearly a week after his birth but my youngest was home within hours of his birth and we went for a walk the following day, when he was a day old. When he was 2 days old we took him clothes shopping as I had hardly anything boyish for him, plus I needed new clothes for myself.

We were in hospital for 3 weeks, but DS was outside sleeping in his pram the day we got home. I would have done it sooner if we hadn't been stuck in hospital. Providing they are wrapped up warm, there is nothing wrong with getting babies out in the fresh air. If anything, keeping them cooped up inside is more of a health risk - there are more germs flying about inside.

We went out the day DS was born. Got home from hospital shortly after his birth and had friends round, then went out for a walk. It was significantly easier than getting him out now at 13 months I can tell you!!

Day 2 with both of them. Being stuck inside was NOT my idea of fun and by the time the second came along I knew the oldest would go stir crazy being inside all the time...

6 days. Would have been sooner but he was in hospital.

I think it's ridiculous not to take them out for months!

I was out with dh or for a short walk and the sling in the first week.

Most of my ante-natal group were meeting up in coffee shops in the week their dp/dhs went back to work so week 3.

Our group member who had a c-sect and lived away from bus routes was quite isolted as she couldn't come out for six weeks. we'd met up at least 3/4 times by then.

DS1 came home from hospital on day 2 and day 3 we went to the park and café. DS2 was at the park and café about 28 hours after birth.

museum why couldn't your friend with a section come out for 6 weeks? I was never told to stay in!

Just reread, saw the bus route thing, I misunderstood. I thought she'd been advised not to go out!

DD was out at a school concert at about 36 hrs old. I didn't want to miss my older DC being in their Christmas concert, so out we went.

Mine was in NICU for 5 days. On day 6 we went to the park, did our first outdoor feed and park bench nappy change. I was climbing the walls after a week in hospital so it was lovely to get out.

I took all my older two out at a few days old. About 4 days old. I was kept in hospital with all 3, got home, spent the rest of that day at home then life went back to normal. But with DC3 I was still on crutches. But I managed a family walk to the shop when he was a week old.

Out of hospital on day 2. Went for a short walk day 3. Went shopping day 6 (can't say I recommend that!). Stayed in days 7-10 (longest I have ever stayed in the house) but then been out every day since!!

There are some cultures where staying in is the norm (I have a middle eastern friend who said mothers stay at home for 40 days).

Maybe day 5 or 6. We were in hospital until day 4 and I was pretty gubbed from chest infection/loss of blood. Was literally a 20 minute walk that should have taken 5 round the block Blush
