10 month old - high temp spikes

Looking for some advice as my DS has not had a temperature before.

Last night (2am) he had a temperature of 39 which eventually came down with some calpol. He woke up this morning and his temperature was up again at 38.8. Again that came down with some nurofen and I took him in to nursery. Nursery have just called to say his temperature has gone back up to 38.8 again despite him having calpol there a couple of hours ago.

I'm on my way to give him some nurofen and take him home. Bless him he's only settling in at the moment at nursery.

WWYD? Do I need to get him to the doctors?

I would ring the GP and have a telephone consultation if you can. They might advise that you bring your son in so that they can have a look at him.

What other symptoms is he having?

He's had some bad nappies for nearly a week now and I thought he was breathing quite quickly when he was asleep (on me) last night.

I'd put the bad nappies down to him adjusting to the food at nursery, as he has been fine in himself otherwise, until last night.

I would definitely get some medical advice then.

Thanks, I will call the doctors once I'm back with him and spoken to nursery about how he's been.
