when did you go back to work and use nursery?

Two separate questions really:

  1. When did you return to work and what childcare did you use/hours did you work?

  1. When did you first put DC in nursery? How old were they and for how long did you put them in?

Both kids were 11 months when they started nursery, 8.15 till 6, 3 days a week (ds went 4 days for a few months), while I worked.

Worked very well - old enough to want to explore a new environment, not really old enough to worry about where I was. Both loved nursery until about 6 months before starting school, when they wanted new challenges.

DS1 at 4 months
DS2 at 5 months
Both for 20 hours per week. It worked well for us. Some might think it too young but I was bordering on PND and had to get back to work for my sanity. No adverse affects. Both clever, sociable pre teens now who unlike friends DC, have never wavered at being apart from us for a short while on cub camps, school residentials etc.

8.5 months. DH and I both went down to 4 days a week. DD with childminder 3 days a week.
When she was 18mo I went back up to full time, so she went to cm 4 days a week.

ds - 7 months. I worked 4 days a week and he went to a childminder until 21 months when mat leave started again. Started nursery at 2 years, 8 months for 3 days a week

dd - 10 months, nursery, 3 days a week

Personally I would prefer to use a childminder for under-1s, but thought nursery ok for dd as she had her older brother there, was 3 short days only and she was nearly one. I prefer nursery for over 2s.

Ds1 started nursery a couple of weeks before his first birthday.

4 days per week, 8am - 5pm.

I am currently on mat leave with ds2 and when I got back to work next year he wil do the same.

I'm taking 4 months, DH is then taking 5. We are both going to work part time so baby will be in nursery 2 days a week.

DD was 11 months when I went back three days a week (she does 1 day with MiL and 0.5 with my husband who does compressed hours) and went 1.5 days. Still does and she's 25 months now. I was lucky that I didn't want to send her any earlier and didn't have to. But other than some tears if she's a bit under the weather or tired (which stop as soon as I'm out of sight) she loves it and is about to go downstairs to the pre-school in the new year.

DD - 8mo and to a Childminder. I work shifts so she would only be there when dh and I were both working.

DS - 6mo and to the same CM same conditions.

DD started preschool nursery January gone. ds is still too young.

DD1 was 10mo and I did two full days and two half days.

Tbh, the half days weren't ideal for her, I always woke her up when I picked her up, she would have done better with three full days I think.

On mat leave with DD2 atm but she will go slightly earlier, 9.5m I think, just because of the way it's worked out.

Ds1 back to work part time when he was 13 months old me and dh did opposite shifts so no childcare untill the free 15 hours at 3 years old. Currently on maternity for 5 month old will probably do something similar again

Started back at work the week before his 1st birthday. We'd been gradually settling him into cm for a month.
I'm back full time and DH has gone to 4 days but because we work weekends sometimes we only need 3 days 9-6 with cm.

I returned to work full time after 9 months off (I had had 6 months paid mat leave)

DD started at 6 months doing half a day a week and so built her up to 4 days month by month. My mum had her on the 5th day.

DD loves it and always did. She still waves as we pass (aged nearly 9) and I'm in contact with her key worker.
