Fever at night? Duvet too warm?

My DD will turn two in a months time and she's had a duvet and pillow for a month or two now. It's a 4.5 tog, that's all they had and I figured it would be fine.

Only, last night and the night before she has woken up crying (very unlike her) with a fever. Her skin is roasting hot to the touch. We give her some calpol, water and cuddles but she's totally inconsolable and has ended up sleeping with us. She's never slept in with us, she NEVER wants to. So it's very out of character.

Has anyone got any ideas? Could the duvet be too hot? Am I just being overly worried?

Change the duvet for sheet and blankets and see how she is. She might just have a bit of a virus. Does she wake up properly when she has to get up, or is she drowsy at all?

Does she have a temperature during the day? How is she in herself?

What covers does she have when she sleeps in with you and does she cool down? How is she in the daytime, is she ok in herself?

Does she have any teeth still to come through? Molars maybe?

There is a fever type cold going around. My dd (2.6) had the fever for 5 nights, we actually wondered for a while if it was a reaction to pull up nappies until my baby ds also had it. Lots of children in my area also have it. It's horrible seeing them so poorly, Flowers for you.

She is sick. It's not the duvet. Fever tends to spike in the night.

After she woke up last night we changed her to a sheet and blankets, but she still woke up about an hour later not as hot but still with a temperature. She cools down and sleeps fine in with us and we have a 10.5 tog!

She's fine during the day, not even a sniffle! I don't think she's teething as she's usually very grumpy when she is.

He only reason I thought it was the duvet is because she's only like that at night? She could just have a virus coming on couldn't she?

I'm not usually such a worrier but this is so out of character for her.

4.5 tog isn't a very warm duvet. Fevers always seem worse at night. A drop of calpol should sort the temp out, but DD mine is always a little ball of heat at night.

When my DC have been ill, they often get hotter and more feverish while sleeping.

If your DD has had this duvet for a month or two, and has only just started getting feverish at night, I think it's much more likely she's ill with something.

I would say she is ill also as you say she's had the duvet 2 months but only temperature 2 nights
