Hi I'm expecting my pfb in ten weeks time and I am trying to get my house organised. Are there any particular things I should have in the medicine cabinet just in case e.g a baby thermometer( if so what type), medicines etc?

Digital in-ear thermometers are very useful, although pretty expensive.

There's not a lot of medical stuff you can use from birth, but if you want to be really organised:-

  • snuffle babe
  • nasal suction thingy
  • Calpol (from 8 weeks)
  • baby bail scissors
  • metanium or similar nappy rash cream

Infacol or Gripe water for colic. I rarely used either but my mum insisted. I just had a normal baby thermometer that you put under their arm. A barrier cream like petroleum jelly for nappy change and a nappy rash cream for when there is actually nappy rash, though my son didn't have nappy problems until he was older. I used boiled water and cotton wool balls for the first few weeks.
