This is the second post today and probably second in the wrong place. My 27 yo son is a shy yet good looking young man. Went through a phase of thinking he was about about to come out but no. I recently found out via DD that he has no self confidence to have a relationship or even date.I don't know exactly about their conversation but it upset me a lot. Just got off the phone to DD who told me he has always had no confidence and it took it out of him in a big way to ask a woman at his work out. Then acc to DD this awful woman (I'm sorry but she is) told him she would not be interested as he is too "working class"!!! I know everyone has the right to decide who they will date, but really this is not on. He lives abroad in Brussels and I don't know the woman's nationality but that should not come into it. He is, we are in fact from a working class background but so what. He has worked so hard and got a great job he likes and a lovely flat. He even sent me £ when I was broke to help me and younger sister with mortgage etc. It just makes me so sad people can be like this. I am delighted he never went near this woman but it would be sad if he went right back into his shell. He has friends there and doesn't want to come back to London.

Urgh, what a cow to say such a horrible thing to someone!! What is wrong with some people?? She sounds awful, thank god he's not wasting him time with someone so cruel.

I don't know if I can offer any advice really, my DS is much younger, but I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you're in such a situation.

Although he may have confidence issues - and this horrible episode probably won't have helped - he's living in Brussels, has a job and has friends; it sounds like he'll be just fine. I hope they're able to support him and help him move on from this - there are some lovely people out there who don't put wealth or class at the top of their agenda for dating someone!!

If she can only see his class, then she is clearly not the girl for him.
