My and dh are getting things in order re: insurances, wills etc now we have dcs. We have nobody that is suitable we could name as guardian should the worst happen. My mum and dh parents are old and not in good health. We both have brothers but dh is NC with his and mine is not suitable. What do we do? We have some friends but none that we could ask such a thing of, they are more like football and drinking pals of dh.

In the event what would happen to DC? What have others done if you are in the same situation?

They would be fostered by social services and appropriate adoptive parents found for them, unless they were over 16 where they would possibly get assistance, but possibly not.

I saw a really good TV show about this when do and I were going through the process of choosing guardians, it pointed out that whoever you choose will not be perfect, it might just be choosing the least bad option.

We ended up putting our mothers down despite issues to do with their age, as making them guardian does not mean they have to look after the kids, but that they would be able to choose who did. We put down dp's brother as a back up despite the fact I don't really like sil because I think it would be better than going into care or naming my brother who is very irresponsible.

In your case I would consider whether elderly parents of overseas siblings would be better than the alternative of going into care.

Sorry, ignore comments about overseas siblings, I misread the op.

I would still consider parents, or I would decide going into care might be the best option available if your siblings are awful.

How old are your DC Alibongo?

My children and 2 and 3. For some reason it is really bothering me. My dh has just turned 40 and I am 38. I do have anxiety issues over the whole parenting thing for which I am receiving help for.
Both DC have been christened with 4 each godparents and none of the 8 have taken any interest in them. I would have initially chosen my brother and sil but he left her when my eldest was a few months old and has been a since then.

My mother is only 63 but I am petrified she would fight for and get them and I am having therapy for my childhood. Eg my 3 year old has started to develop a stammer and she laughs at hersad
