My DS4 got a splinter in the heel of his foot from a wooden decking board on Saturday. It's pretty deep and there is no way we can get it out.
We took him to a minor injuries unit on Sunday and they put a local anesthetic in his foot. It stung and he was hysterical. He wouldn't let the nurse near him after that despite much persuasion and bribery.
We were advised to keep an eye for infections and hope it works itself out. 3 days later and it hasn't budged at all. He is very nervous about his foot now and will barely let us look at it :-(
I took him to my GP again today as I'm unhappy about leaving it. He's walking on his tip toes constantly. GP said only thing she could suggest would be to try with the anesthetic again. I am reluctant because he was so distressed last time. It was horrendous to listen to him screaming and crying, he was petrified.
GP said only alternative is A&E where they could sedate, which seems silly for a splinter
So wise mumsnetters- what shall I do?
