How to stop baby poo from staining

Dd2 is staining all her clothes. I am putting pooed clothes in a bucket with napisan to soak, then washing. While this worked with dd1 it doesn't seem to now. I have no idea why!

How do you stop staining?

Sunshine! Hanging out in the sunshine and the stain will disappear

I found that rubbing a bit of the laundry liquid into the stain before washing worked a treat - I also tried Napisan and vanish with no luck. Sunshine is supposed to help, but we don't get any sun on our washing line, so haven't tried it. Good luck!

Yy to sunshine - also soak in cold water before washing, I find not letting it dry gets the best results so -

poo, soak asap, dry in direct sunlight.

As already said hanging in the sun.

Sunshine also works after the clothes are dry, so if you have a shady washing line like minimonkeys get the clothes dry then put on any sunny windowsill or whatever.

Another vote for sun, nothing shifts shit stains like celestial rays.

It doesn't even have to be a sunny day - direct strong daylight works, even through glass.

Sunlight, it doesn't matter if the weather is bad but obv you'd have to rewash or re-dry.

Really is sunshine so amazing? I never knew!

So wash, dry in sunshine, then rewash?

BlueThursday Tue 09-Jun-15 15:28:57

A wash and a run with a plain bar of soap in cold water whilst the stain is fresh grin

I then dunk the item in a bucket with cold water and vanish until the baby wash is to be done

BertieBotts Tue 09-Jun-15 16:15:45

You don't have to rewash. I just meant if you'd left it out in the rain or something.

Another vote for sunshine.

I scrub the stain with Morrisons household soap, rinse and machine wash as normal. It's always worked so far.

jubles Tue 09-Jun-15 16:21:23

Definitely sunshine. We used cloth nappies and sunshine always worked a treat for the stains - the more direct the sunlight the better!

IssyStark Tue 09-Jun-15 16:23:06

Sunshine is what always made the different. You could really tell when it had been overcast weather wise by looking at my DS's cloth nappies grin

We also use a vanish soap bar on the actual stains before putting it in the wash, if it's going to be dried in the tumble drier. Sunshine for the reusuable wipes as I'm not vanishing each one of them individually!

Sun. Also works on food stains.

I have always been a fan of prewashing or soaking in biotex before the main wash.
