Things you wish you'd done before dc 2 came along...

We all know the things we wished we'd done more of before children (mainly sleep). But as I have just found out I'm expecting dc2 (4 years between dc) can you share your experience of things you'd wished you'd enjoyed before the second baby came to set you back to zero?

I am taking this deafening silence to mean I am already at the bottom of the parenting trenches and the only way is up from here?

I'm interested op! With 8 weeks to go before dd is due and with ds only 17 months my sister (mother of three) advised me to "enjoy what's left of my pelvic floor". Charming!!!

Love that one! My bump is already showing at four weeks or I am fat. I am going to try and enjoy watching my DS believe the world revolves around him for a little bit longer and enjoy the five hours I have alone in bed before he pitter patters his way back into ours again anyway. I might have to start just adding beds to the left of our double now as more children arrive. Kind of like an extension, but just bedsteads instead of bricks.

I would say enjoy the fact that at the moment you and dp outnumber the kids. So for example you can take bedtime in turns and the other gets down time. Once dc2 arrives it's a one on one situation lol.

Enjoy it being fairly easy to get a babysitter for one child. We didn't go out a lot before dc2 but now if we have anything on it's like a military operation organising child care.

Enjoy being able to devote all your time to your older child but try and make sure they get time to play on their own too so they don't become too dependent on being entertained all the time.

Oh god I have only just thought about bedtime! I love the half hour of peace I get when DH does bedtime. I'm rubbish at it too. Yep. 9 months to enjoy that!

Have a weekend away just the two of you - it will be a long time before you get a night totally to yourselves again! Enjoy lie-ins particularly if you're planning on bf (in the early days my rock-hard boobs would wake me up and send me downstairs to the pump even on mornings off).
