2 year old pushing other kids

My lovely calm 2 year old has recently started giving other kids an experimental push in the playground or at activities. Never with kids that she knows, only with strangers. Sometimes she gives them a little push on their face or chest, and often not too hard, but sometimes hard enough that they could take a few steps back. I have told her no pushing and I find it very embarrassing. Why is she doing this? How can I make her stop?

Don't take it personally but watch her and remind her that it's not ok. I found The Happiest Toddler on the Block quite useful. It describes toddlers rather like cave men who are socially unaware and are without language skills. I thought it was a good analogy. Wine
