My LO is 11 weeks old and I've been told should be having about 6 oz each feed spread every 3/4 hours. I can never get him to finish a bottle and he eats every 1/2 hours. I feel like I'm spending my whole day feeding him and can't plan to go out as I never know when he's going to scream for his next feed. Anyone have any advice? ShockShock

Is that every half hour or every 1 to 2 hours?

Assuming it is every 1 to 2 hours then I'd say that's fine. My DD does that, she's 17 weeks now. She's more 2 hourly now. It means she gets all her feeds in during the day and sleeps through the night! My DD has only just started to empty her 6oz bottles, before now she rarely has.

You're supposed to make bottles bigger than they drink so that there is always plenty for baby to drink.

Are you offering a dummy so that baby can comfort suck without feeding?

Why can you not go out? You can take bottles with you!

Thanks for the reply and yes it's every 1 to 2 hours. The going out is a worry that as soon as we leave the house he will want feeding. We've tried a dummy but he doesn't want one.

It's reassuring to know it will settle eventually

Has he got reflux? Or milk intolerance? Just wondering.

No reflux and don't think he has intolerance as on occasion he can take the whole bottle, does suffer with wind sometimes but that's getting a lot better now

It's OK for baby to want feeding when you are away from home. Just feed him when you are out

You can just take a sterilised bottle with you, a small flask of pre-measured boiling water and pre-measured formula powder in a dispenser. Mix together - perfect freshly made bottle.

(or if you are anything like me, just take a pre-made bottle with you. This is against 'The Rules' but works fine for us)

A dummy will take perseverance but has massive benefits. Well worth it.
