pull ups for small babies

I am interested in 'elimination communication' (early potty training) but have left it a bit late. Anyway, ds is 12 months, incredibly wriggly and active, and hates nappy changes. He won't lie down and I have to chase him around the room.
My sister suggested pull ups to make changing easier and I'm willing to try it but can't find any smaller than size 5. He's dinky (size 3 now). Anyone else started pull ups early? Thanks.

Pampers 'easy ups' and sainsburys own brand pull-up nappies start at size 4.

Huggies pull ups do a small (from 8kg)

And I found their sizes to be a lot smaller than ordinary nappies

Unless you're serious about the potty training id go for pull up nappies rather than the 'potty training pants' as they're more absorbent and loads cheaper. My dd wore pull up nappies (the ones I mentioned above) from about 11mo to just over 2, when she potty trained of her own accord. She was much happier being changed standing up.
