Quick question about antibiotics for a 1 year old

It tastes so bitter, any good tips on how to get DD to take? Plus I have a bottle and was told to give 5ml 4 times a day but I forgot to ask how long the course was. I assumed it would be 5 or 7 days like an adult course but there won't be enough for that long I don't think. What's the usual length or do you just take it until it's finished?
If no luck I will ask GP tomorrow

Ok amoxicillin usually tastes of bananas mix it with whatever to get it down custard, yoghurt ( May then avoid these foods). It comes in 100mls so you will have 6 and a bit days worth. Usually throat infections are treated with penicillin which is v bitter but both work (tend to avoid amoxicillin in case infection is really EBV a virus as the 2 react to cause an all over body rash like allergic reaction but it isn't). Usual course length is 10 days due to high recurrence rates see how lo is near the end of the course.

Hope that makes sense

Does make sense and your right its penicillin I just double checked the label. It is red and very bitter. It's also 100ml bottle so at 4 5ml doses a day it should be 5 days but it just doesn't look like it will last that long! I guess I will just wait and see. Thank you for your response :)

No problem yes that's a bitter orange antibiotics should be for 10 days though so if recurs quickly after that will prob be why. Needs to be kept in fridge too.

Yep that's one thing I did remember in my bleary eyed state of exhaustion was to keep it in fridge Smile
