How long does your baby stay awake?

My baby is 4.5 months and needs several naps each day. She feeds about every 3 hours (longer at night). During the day, she needs a nap between each feed. She seems to be awake no longer than 1 - 1.5 hours before getting grumbly and showing sleepy cues. Naps last anything from 20 minutes to 90 minutes, very unpredictable, on average 30 minutes.
Does this sound normal? She is generally healthy, plenty of wet nappies and alert when awake.
PFB moment?!

Sounds perfectly normal to me!

Lol I posted about whether mine napped enough - we mums worry!! Yours sounds very typical. Much more "typical" than mine, who the GP and HV assure me is perfectly ok too.

Mine has fewer naps (gets sleepy every 2-2.5 hours) but like yours they vary in length and are often after a feed.

If they follow their tiredness cues and rest when tired I think that's the main thing.

I have a five and a bit month old who is very similar (apart from the longer at night bit Hmm). I think the more alert they are the harder they find to stay awake for long IYSWIM. I also read The 90 Minute Sleep Solution which suggests an awake time of 90 mins is normal. I live for those long naps when they do happen!

My ds is 4 months old and seems to be awake all day .. I know he's not as he will have little cat naps of about ten minutes a couple of times a day but other than that he has no day sleep . Exhausting with dd 19months.

He does mostly sleep through the night until 6am though so I shall count my blessings !

Yours seems pretty normal though I'm pretty sure dd had a similar pattern at that age

Google 2/3/4 Routine

At such a young age there is no real routine to sleep pattern yet.

When my DS was newborn he was awake ALL day!!!!!

That sounds normal to me. I couldn't wait until my second baby was in some kind of a routine. He is 8 months now and has a loose routine of morning and afternoon nap and long-ish sleep at night, but some days he just goes off and does his own little thing, like today where he didn't have a nap at all, all day! Arghhh!!
