Dd clingy with keyworker

Dd is 2.9 and has been at preschool since November. I've been a SAHM and she's an only child. Apparently the whole time she's at pre-school she stays with her key worker and never leaves her side. She doesn't play with the other children and is very quiet. Is this a normal thing she will grow out of in her own time or do I need to do more to help her learn to socialise?

Has she done much socialising before pre school?

If not then it sounds quite normal to me. Going from no children or playing with another child to being in a whole class might take some getting used to. Give her a bit more time smile

Agree with pp she has only had a couple of months to get used to the new arrangements and it's only natural that she will cling onto an adult to try and replicate what she has been used to. Over time this will change with her confidence and development. At this age many children don't play together but alongside each other so that will happen before she starts making friends, but it will happen in her own time.

Thank you both for your reassurance. We went to lots of groups beforehand but I was always there and she didn't tend to move far from my side then!
