quick question about volume of milk

This is something that has always baffled me but never had a reason to find the answer until now.
I need to keep an eye on the amount of milk the twins are having. Now when you make up a bottle of formula do you count the amount to water you made it up as or how much it equates to once it's made up???? For example 150mls water made up is nearly 180mls

I always worked in oz so 5 scoops of powder with 5oz of water - classed as 5oz of milk although it looked like 6oz once they were mixed.

Ha ha ha I've always done ozs but thought that was old school and people use mls these days.
If you go by starting amount my chubby little girl doesn't actually have that much.

With my DD I made it up to the oz. However, now with my DS I have a perfect prep machine and it adds the number of ozs of water. Which is actually what the boxes say to do and I hadn't noticed until I was wondering why the machine 'appeared' to be making bigger feeds!!

I've always added an oz per scoop, meaning the feed always adds up to more volume-wise than the number of oz of water used. I then record the feed (in my app...controlling cow I am ) as being the same number of oz of water, despite true volume being higher.

I wondered about this as we gave DS the readymade and he drunk considerably over the normal amounts - I wasn't sure whether he'd drink "less" if it was powder formula because obviously made up the oz's were actually more than you were counting.

It's called Feed Baby...you can trial it free for several weeks then I think it's about £1.50 to upgrade to Feed Baby Pro to continue using. It can record nappy activities, feeds (breast, formula and food), medicines, sleep, pumping, baths, medicines, etc (you don't have to use it all obviously) and it gives you visuals on some things.

I just record formula feeds, solids and poos . It really helps me identify DD's natural patterns so I can work with them rather than go against them and end up pulling my hair out.
