My DD turns 1 in a couple of months but people have already started asking what she wants.

I have no idea! She doesn't need anything I can think of really so I thought I'd defer to the vast knowledge of MN & ask please please help!

Things my DS most enjoyed from his 1st birthday: A shape sorter box thing, a little tikes trike for going walks and a nice and chunky wooden bus!

(Actually, the wrapping paper and boxes were a HUGE hit).

DS has this push along truck which both DC played with.

How about those soft skittles, a scramble bug ride on or some nice books?

Clothes are ok too Smile

I have this dilemma too. My child is going to be 1 soon and we already have everything we need for him including 'future toys'. Organised? Me? :p

Will be watching this.

Could you ask for vouchers for when you do need something?

Mine's not 1 for another 3 months; I think we're going to mostly suggest clothes if anyone asks, but those Hide 'n' Squeak eggs have got some good reviews on here. These are definitely making our list!

Oh yes +1 actually for the eggs, DS got them at Christmas - excellent high chair throwing fodder... He loves them

We bought DS a Scramblebug which he like at the time but can use much better a few months later (going forwards as well as backwards).

His favourite small birthday toy was the vtech torch which is still a big hit.

I came to say Hide and Squeak eggs but see I have been beaten too it. The best thing DD got for her first birthday and she was still playing with them when she was 3. I now always buy them for 1st birthdays.

My DD really loved plates, cups and cutlery at that age (still does actually). We bought a cheap pop up pool and some balls to make a ball pit. Maybe a bit late weather wise but a swing also went down well

Books are always good, in the next year she will probably really get into them. You can ask for books that are a bit old for her now, like the Julia Donaldson ones, as well as ones she can enjoy now (the ones with photos of everyday objects to learn the vocabulary, lift the flap ones, and Ahlberg ones like Peepo and The Baby's Catalogue).
Also, if she doesn't already have them, basic musical instruments like a xylophone, tambourine, drum, bells...
Pull-along toys are good for new walkers.
Nice plastic/melamine plate, bowl, cup, cutlery set?

My nephew turned 1 in July; our side of the family clubbed together to get him one of those trikes that starts as a push a long and then has pedals for when he's older - my sister tassles him on it as an alternative to the buggy, and he much prefers it. His dad's side got him a sand/water tray, which he also loves!

My mum got him a smart trike, he loves it so much! He's now almost two but it's still getting regular use, much more fun than the buggy Grin

As baby gone from bean to crawling, smiling, laughing in toddler one thing's for certain that is 1 year old's are more active little people. Most of the LO would love toys, push toy it helps unsteady new walkers feel a little more stable, any musical instruments, bath toys, block etc.

I have present my brothers a baby stroller. Here are few 1 year baby gifts
ideas which can be presented on birthday.
